Touch wood I've never had a problem with Citroen hydropneumatics, but obviously some people do, especially with aging cars. The original C5 model was the first where Citroen dispensed with all the complicated pipework running up and down the whole length of the car. Hopefully that should improve the reliability considerably and fleet managers/private owners won't be quite so concerned about potential failure as time goes on.
You will have noticed how the old BX, XM, Xantia models sink to the floor when left unused for a few hours? Doesn't happen with any C5 if you notice.
That was a result of doing away with the suspension fluid being pumped all around the car, with the consequent saving of all that pipework and its potential for corrosion and leaks. The work is now done by electric motors instead. The battery now keeps the car level at all times, even when the engine is switched off.
As you climb aboard, you can hear the faint hum of these motors priming the fluid at each corner and the car levelling up to accommodate the weight change.
In a nostalgic sense, I actually miss the car pumping itself up on the turn of the key nowadays! Sad eh?

The Germans these days have a few reliability issues of their own to address, particularly VW and Mercedes!
They have managed to build up this perception of ultra-reliability (unwarranted in my opinion) and I suppose you can't blame Citroen for trying to tap into that, sad as it is to watch.
I still believe Citroen build good cars in their own right and I've never been disappointed in one yet. For the price, they have represented good VFM.
You are absolutely right about the superior ride quality though. The moment Citroen starts to emulate the harsh riding German wagons, they'll be losing me as a customer. And I think the rot has set in -- some new C5 models are only available without the hydropneumatic suspension now.
"a suspension as rigid and aggressive as anything build east of Alsace-Lorraine".
What a ridiculous statement by the maker of the finest suspension in the world.
Talk about shoot yourself in the foot.

貌似是关于C5底盘升降稳定性的争论?  估计也是这个原因,来中国减配了

很久没说过英语了,随便试试了。
很走运我从来没有碰到雪铁龙过液压气动(底盘液压升降吧)的问题,但是有些人有,特别是时间长的车。最初的C5型号是雪铁龙第一次撤销了所有复杂的(上升的?)管道工程并降低了车的长度。希望这能在很大程度上改善它的可靠性并且旗舰(车队,车)的经营者或者拥有者不必去关心随着时间的流逝带来的失败(可靠性问题)。
你会注意到老的BX, XM, Xantia 型号车会沉到地板上(指车身下降到路面)当它们已经好几个小时没被使用了,但是这些没有发生在C5的身上。
这样的结果是废除了在车四周打入悬挂液体(液压油吧)取得的效果,伴随而来的是减少了管道工程可能潜在的腐蚀和泄露。这个工作现在被电机取代了。电池可以保持车的水平哪怕发动机未启动。
当你上车时,你会听到微弱的噪杂声当这些电机把液体打到每个角落,车将会上升去和车重的变化相适应。
在一种怀旧的情绪下,现在我很怀念当转动钥匙后要车自己升起!伤不起,嗯?
大体就是说以前是机械液压结构操作车体上升下降,现在改由电机控制。
也就是说液压悬挂可靠性很高了,那为啥不引进?
