JATCO paid attention to the smoothness and fuel efficiency of the belt CVT from early on, and raised the goal to install a belt CVT on a 3.5L class automobile and developed with the aims to “make lighter and more compact”, “raise fuel efficiency” and “improve acceleration”.
The large FF automobile belt CVT, when compared to the 4AT used previously for this class, has a larger gear ratio range, meaning better starting power for low speeds, and lower engine rotation at higher speeds, contributing to better fuel efficiency.
By freely controlling the ideal combination of a large-exhaust high-torque engine + CVT through sophisticated controlling technology, we have succeeded in creating a smooth and agile ride, which is at the same time fuel efficient.
